Today, we're going to straighten out the pronounciation of a very commonly spoken word. Many people put the "wrong emPHAsis on the wrong syLLAble" if you know what I mean.

Romaji: Konnichiwa! (kon-nee-chee-WAH)

WRONG: KonNIchiwa

Japanese: こんにちわ！

Meaning: Hey!/Hello!/Good day!/Good afternoon.

There you have it - the correct way to greet someone in the afternoon. Go out & say hello to everybody in Japanese! ^_^

On a side note, I really wanna see "Departures" (「おくりびと」/"Okuribito") now. They won an Academy Award & it looks like a Japanese version of a "Six Feet Under" movie, which is one of my favorite shows!
