Beat Blades Haruka [Alter 1/8 Scale] Print E-mail
Figurine Review List

Haruka, I know very little of her except from that she's from Beat Blades Haruka. I don't know much of that game except that it's the successor to Beat Angel Escalayer. Does it matter if i know where it's from? That depends, I'm sure we've all been in a predicament where we've seen such a beautiful figurine that they've bought it regardless of it's origins. This was such a purchase. I didn't get around in time to pre-order Alter's Haruka, but luckily on my way back home today i happened to stop in one of my local anime/manga stores (Forbidden Planet), and i stumbled upon her. Not just once, but twice, her Alter version and the Kotobukiya version, right next to each other.

adorufu_ni_tsugu_01_fcLast time we visited judaism in Japanese popular arts, particularly anime and manga, Benny from Black Lagoon was our key focus. Today, we take a slightly different path and peer into a manga character from Osamu Tezuka's Adolf ni Tsugu. Yes, as you might have already guessed, this character is none other than Adolf Hitler. I'm really pulling at straws here, but honestly it is incredibly hard to find any true Jewish characters in all of anime and manga, especially those heavily influencing the main plot.

So there you have it! There isn't much need to delve deeper into the history of Hitler, so if you are interested in reading this manga, I believe it was translated in English!

What has Pokemon taught us over the years? There are valuable lessons in both the televised and interactive manifestations of the craze that we all know as Pokemon. We learned about the proper handling and care of animals, how to deal with evil doers, how to diagnose and accept incorrigible perverted friends, how to invest money into your interests, how to put your consciousness on the line with no more than six lifelines, and so much more.

An old episode of Pokemon involved a beauty contest with entries from our familiar Misty and not just one, but two of the members from the most prominent Team Rocket trio, Jessie and James. While this episode was banned in all countries except Japan, the U.S. did air a modified version, billing it a "lost episode," in 2000. It is slightly odd that Pokemon, in its 18th episode, would resort to calling out Misty on her proportions. Really, this isn't odd enough to be worthy of posting about.... However, the following video changes things entirely:

I take no credit for this video, but I fully applaud its odd nature.
