Straight from Japan, we bring you PokeTreats! During my extravagant exploration of an exogenous land, I picked up some treats along the way. Were they nothing more than Pokemonized versions of American snacks, or were they something the American snack companies could only dream of producing??? Let's find out!

We begin with the snacks I decided to taste (and devour entirely). As all of the products I will mention today, these two have little wasted space in terms of franchise depictions. Pokemon everywhere!

poprocksdipsThe first one I tried was a Japanese version of Pop Rocks Dips, which we've had on this side of the Pacific for quite some time (with several other iterations). The lollipop was a standard Pokemon (one of the newer starters, Chimchar) and the crackling candy had no distinguishing features. What's the verdict? Tasty! Do we have to leave the country or go to a Japanese specialty store to replicate this taste? Nope!

Next we have a a very simple gummy snack seen in all sorts of forms in America. Most simply, we can compare it to Welch's fruit snacks. Easy. Pokemon-shaped gummy ("gummi") treats. Taste exactly the same. Torchic was particularly delicious.

The last two treats I did not try. I do not have any idea as to what they are, but I will find out the translations for all of these after consulting Cindy (Porkfairy). One is a tin with what seems to be a lot of padding on the inside because it doesn't rattle when I shake it around. Interesting. The other is a set of four cubes. Gum? We'll find out soon!

I definitely know the 1st one is candy, but it's says "shuwaatto kyandi" (phonetically), so I'm not so sure what "shuwaatto" is. The 2nd is, like you said "Pokémon Gummies". The 3rd doesn't specifically tell you what kind of candy is in there, but it does say "candy" in English :P. And lastly, the cute little Pokémon boxes aren't actually gum but chocolate caramels, or "Pokémon choko kyarameru". ;-)
