Once on the surface Kamina, Simon, Yoko, And Lagann run into more Ganmen who retreat after an ambush from Yoko’s friends. The next day the Ganmen return with an ally, and after seeing the power of the new Ganmen, Kamina decides to take it for himself and declairing its name Gurren. During the battle with the Ganmen the remains of someone are unearthed; when Kamina and the others rebury the remains Kamina discovers that they are the remains of his long lost father.
